Kind people are my kind of people – Celebrate Be An Angel Day 2019

This week celebrates an unusual holiday that we’re all up for embracing at Keepsake HQ, August 22nd is Be An Angel Day and we are polishing up our halos in anticipation. 

Founded in 1993 as a day to encourage random acts of kindness, Be An Angel Day is all about celebrating the spirit of human kindness and putting others first. 

So many of us have incredible people in our lives who have shown us kindness and support through the hardest of times. Or maybe you have encountered a random act of generosity that unexpectedly lifted your spirits and made you smile?

Here are some ideas to help you spread your wings and make the world a kinder place this week…

Help a stranger out – give directions if someone is looking a little lost, gift someone your spare change for their shopping trolley or parking ticket, give up your seat on the train or pay for the coffee of someone in the queue behind you.

Smile and say good morning to everyone you pass on your way to work or school!

Do something that will make a frazzled colleague or family member smile, even it’s just bringing them a cuppa without having to ask.

Offer to help an older neighbour with odd jobs about the house or perhaps to mow their lawn.

Call a friend and offer to look after their little ones for the evening so they can have a well earned night out… or a peaceful night in!

Tuck a love note into your other half’s lunch box or a funny joke in your little one’s snack bag!

See if there are any local charities or organisations that inspire you to volunteer locally, get the whole family involved for a fun day out.

Have a 5 minute beach clean or litter pick and take the rubbish home to recycle.

Send someone happy post, a hand written card or a little unexpected treat can mean the world to someone who is feeling the weight of things. Or perhaps you have an angel you are truly thankful to and today is the perfect excuse to show them some love ♥
